Kingfisher in the garden

We have an 1800 gallon pond in the garden, with a reasonable assortment of koi carp. We've had it a couple of years and last year we noticed some very small, obviously newborn fish. There were a few more, even smaller this year, but we also noticed that there didn't appear to be as many as we thought. Yesterday morning I got up a little earlier than usual and saw a kingfisher sitting on a trellis overlooking the pond. This morning, my wife was up early and she saw it too. Unfortunately we don't have a digital camera, so we couldn't get a photo. Here's one from the RSPB website.

Wow! You're lucky to see one of these elusive little guys.

When I was in Egypt back in 2000 I managed to get some great video footage of three Pied Kingfishers (i.e. the black & white ones) fishing off the front of a boat. They are quite delightful little birds.

Yeah, we know how lucky we are! There is a small river a few hundred yards away so we guess the kingfisher is hanging out there.
